The perinatal environment and common genetic variants are known risk factors for development of child psychopathology. At the same time, they are also known to associate with DNA methylation at birth in cord blood. Can we therefore use cord blood DNA methylation as a proxy for multiple perinatal and genetic exposures? And if so, would that improve prediction of child psychopathology beyond the explained variance by the original risk factors? Elena Isaevska has been investigating these questions in our latest study. Find more about our findings in a poster which we presented WCPG 2026, as well as in our recently published pre-print: https://doi.org/10.64898/2026.07.22.26358558
